Arsenal are eyeing up a move for the top class Atlético Madrid keeper, Jan Oblak.
The Slovenia international is one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now, and Arsène Wenger is apparently a fan of the La Liga star.
According to Goal, Arsenal are unwilling to match Atlético Madrid’s €100 million valuation of the player. As per the report, Oblak is not for sale, and Atlético are not willing to listen to any offers for him. Therefore, it is highly unlikely Atlético will reduce their asking price. Arsenal will have to trigger his massive release clause if they want to sign him anytime soon.
Although transfer prices have shot up ever since the introduction of the TV deal, paying €100 million is still unimaginable, and Arsenal certainly won’t do that under Wenger. Furthermore, Petr Cech still has a good few years left in him. Arsenal’s interest in Oblak makes very little sense in this point of time.
Goal are reporting that several elite clubs are monitoring Oblak’s situation at Atlético Madrid, and the player will evaluate his options at the end of the season. The 23-year-old is a vital member of the first team squad, and is the only player to start all 13 league games this season for Simeone.
Oblak is not the only Atlético player linked with a move to the Premier League. The likes of Gimenez and Griezmann have been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks as well.
