Sampdoria striker, Luis Muriel, has had an impressive season so far. The former Udinese striker was rated as one of the best talents in the game a few years ago, but injury problems and inconsistency meant that the South American went under the radar for a bit.
The Colombian star seems to have found his rhythm once again. Muriel has scored 3 goals and has picked up 2 assists in his last three matches, and the Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, apparently likes the player. The 25-year-old has a similar playing style to that of Luis Suárez, and is blessed with flair and pace. If he can fulfil his potential, he could be a world-class player in the long run.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica are reporting that Chelsea could make a move for him, but in order for that to happen, Muriel must show consistency. The Blues already have Costa and Batshuayi at the club, and Muriel needs to improve a lot in order to play ahead of them, if he is signed.
Muriel has contributed to 13 goals already this season (goals and assists), and needs to keep up that level of performance if he wants Conte to make a move for him. The report adds that Conte has always been a fan of the Colombian.
Muriel signed for Sampdoria last summer for a fee of €10.5m, and will not cost too much if Chelsea decide to move for him at the end of this season. He has a contract until 2019, and a release clause of €28m.
