Arsenal are busy tying down their best players to long-term contracts at the club, and the latest name linked with an extension is that of Laurent Koscielny.

The 31-year-old French international is apparently close to signing a new four-year contract at Emirates and the deal could be finalised before Arsenal’s Champions League clash against PSG next week.

L’Equipe are reporting that Koscielny is ready to commit his future to Arsenal and will sign a new deal good until 2020, which will make him Arsenal’s longest-serving French player. Recently, the Gunners managed to agree on a new deal with Hector Bellerin, and are thought to be working on new deals for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sánchez.

Koscielny’s extension will come as a major boost for the fans, as well as Wenger. The Frenchman is Arsenal’s best defender by some distance, and is at the top of his powers, now.

Previously, Arsenal lost their best players at their peak, and it seems that Wenger has finally learnt his lesson. The Londoners are actively trying to hold on to their best players, and are continuously adding marquee signings to improve the squad.

Arsenal are very much in the title race this season, and if they can keep all of their key players fit, Wenger might just be able to bring the glory days back at the end of this season.
