Tottenham and Man United plan January raid, Spurs have factor against them

Real Madrid playmaker is reportedly wanted in the Premier League, with speculation linking him with both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United over the last 24 hours. The Spain international is an undoubtedly gifted player but has been granted limited time on the pitch this season.

With Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Mateo Kovacic, and James Rodriguez all in contention for a midfield starting berth, Isco has fallen down Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order.

The former Malaga playmaker has only started one La Liga game so far this season and was left out of Spain’s most-recent national squad. This has led to speculation that the 24-year-old could leave the Santiago Bernabeu in January.

Spanish newspaper Marca have stated that Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino, is “crazy” for Isco and wants to make an offer for the star when the transfer window opens.

The North London side were linked with the Madrid man in the final days of the summer transfer window and his potential acquisition would be of real excitement to the White Hart Lane faithful.

However, the report suggests that Tottenham face a challenge to land Isco due to Daniel Levy’s strained personal relationship with the capital city powerhouses.

The Spurs chairman drove up the price when Madrid wanted to land Luka Modric and Gareth Bale from the Premier League outfit – this has reportedly left a bitter taste in the mouth of the La Liga team.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News are linking Jose Mourinho’s men with a move for Isco, with the talented attacking midfielder touted as a potential long-term replacement for Wayne Rooney.

The playmaker joined Madrid the same summer that Mourinho left to return to Chelsea, but the Portuguese manager is also believed to be a fan of the versatile midfielder. Rooney has been far from his best so far in 2016-17, with the England international attacker benched for recent United games.

With this in mind, the report suggests that Mourinho may well look to add Isco to his ranks in January with the idea of gradually phasing the Englishman out of the team at the Spaniard’s expense. The 24-year-old is a gifted operator and his creativity would make him a hit in the Premier League.

With the January transfer window fast approaching and Madrid seemingly willing to part company with Isco, the Spanish star will have no shortage of suitors.
