Arsenal are close to agreeing to a £37m deal for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez. According to Algerian outlet Le Buteur, a deal is close to being done after personal terms were agreed and it could be completed within the next 24 hours.

Mahrez, last season’s PFA Player of the Year, has distanced himself from transfer rumours while Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri is adamant that he won’t let his star player go. Having already sold N’Golo Kante to Chelsea, the Foxes are not reluctant to let Mahrez leave the club as well this summer.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he wants to sign one more forward in the summer transfer window, therefore, a move for Mahrez doesn’t make enough sense.

Mahrez is a class player, no doubt, and may improve the Gunners’ squad as well, but he is not the type of player Arsenal should be looking to buy this summer. The Gunners have plenty of attacking midfielders in the side and signing another similar type of player doesn’t make much sense.
In any case, let us not get too carried away with the rumour as Le Buteur claims they’ve received the information from a source close to Arsenal (read as from British press).
