David Bentley, Aaron Lennon, Didier Zokora, Adam Johnson, Lassana Diarra. All of those Premier League-based players have been linked with moves to Real Madrid recently, and you can add Wigan winger Antonio Valencia to that list now.
Recent reports are linking Real with a £14m move for the 23-year-old, who has been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Aston Villa.
However, Valencia’s agent is trying to put cold water on the link with Real, saying that it is all just speculation and that there have not been any concrete offers yet.
If Real did table a £14m offer in January, it’d be one that the other interested parties might not be compelled to match, so he could be theirs to lose…if Wigan put any thought into selling. However, Steve Bruce has already taken the hard line with his in-demand players in regards to January moves. Even though the £14m would be an enticing offer, especially if Bruce harbors any real hopes of signing Amr Zaki permanently, Real might have to wait until the summer to have a real chance at the Ecuadorian.
