Christian Benteke has rubbished the recent speculation surrounding his future and has publicly confirmed that he will fight to prove his worth at Liverpool.

Former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers signed him from Aston Villa on a £32.5m deal last summer. However, the Northern Irishman was shown the exit door last October and replaced by Jurgen Klopp.

After the arrival of the German coach, Benteke has struggled to impress and failed to cement a place in the starting lineup. He has started in only 12 Premier League games this season, while having made 12 more appearances from the bench.

The Belgium international was the hero as 10-men Liverpool came from behind to register a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Benteke revealed he has never held talks with Klopp regarding his lack of playing time and he has vowed to fight for his future until the end.

“In my mind I was never thinking about a move. I didn’t want to leave. I’ve still enough ambition and enough character to fight in difficult moments. I don’t give up easily. I fight until the end,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s not the easiest of situations but you have to be ready. It’s in the most difficult situations that the real warriors, the tough men and determined guys stand up.”

“In a career you’ll have top moments, also your difficult times. You have to be up for it. I have to take every chance, every minute the manager gives me.”

“I haven’t talked with the manager to ask him why I’m not playing. I just wait for my chance. I’m feeling good. I’m working very hard at the training pitch, just to be ready when the manager needs me.”

Klopp has four strikers at Anfield and the list includes the likes of Benteke, his compatriot Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings. The latter is recovering from an injury and is on a long spell on the sidelines, while his compatriot Sturridge has been struggling with fitness issues.

Benteke and Origi have been in and out of action due to injuries throughout the course of the season. All strikers at Liverpool have failed to fire and their poor goalscoring record is something Klopp and the Reds will be looking to address in the upcoming summer transfer window.
