Viktor Valdes’s agent has hinted that the Manchester United keeper has no future at Old Trafford at the end of this season.
Valdes is out of contract in the summer and Manchester United are not prepared to offer him an extension.
His agent has suggested that the player is interested in joining Sporting Lisbon next season. The Portuguese outfit are looking to sign the 34-year-old keeper according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
Although Manchester United have the option to extend Valdes’s contract for another season, the Premier League giants are not keen on retaining his services. The player’s agent has revealed that there are several clubs looking at his client, who is on loan at Standard Liege.
He said: “Valdes is in the end of a contract with Manchester United”.
“In this moment, there are many clubs going to Liege to watch Valdes.”
Sporting are currently leading the title race in Portugal and are almost certain to qualify for next season’s Champions League and, therefore, the Valdes is attracted to the prospect of joining them permanently next season.
The former Barcelona keeper wants to play regularly and to do so at a Champions League club is indeed a very attractive proposition.
Furthermore, the report also states that Valdes is willing to consider a pay cut to join Sporting permanently in order to play first team football.
