Manchester United have injury worries for their upcoming clash against Everton as the star trio of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney have all picked up injuries on international duty.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder sustained an injury during the pre-match warm up against Republic of Ireland. The world champions Germany suffered a defeat at the hands of Irish side as Southampton striker Shane Long’s second half goal was the difference between the two sides.

Schweinsteiger injury was confirmed by his national’s side on social media.

“@BSchweinsteiger picked up an injury during the pre-match warm-up and will miss the game. #IRLGER. All aboard! @BSchweinsteiger and @MarioGoetze travelling with #DieMannschaft and await further treatment in Leipzig,” Germany tweeted from their official twitter account.

Germany coach Joachin Low confirmed that the United midfielder will take part in the final training and a decision will be made if he will take part in last Euro 2016 qualifier clash against Georgia at home.

“Schweinsteiger will take part in final training. Then we’ll decide if he can play or not,” Low said, as mentioned by Germany’s twitter account.

United face Everton in their Premier League clash after the international break. The Red Devils’ official website believes the world cup winning midfielder could be doubtful when his side face the Toffees.

Meanwhile, Rooney was withdrawn from training as he and Carrick both missed England 2-0 victory over Estonia. It remains be seen whether the English duo will be able to regain full fitness for the Everton match – a crunch game for United given the insipid nature of their last Premier League game, the 3-0 defeat against Arsenal.

“We have been waiting for Wayne’s ankle injury to settle down,” Hodgson explained.

“It is settling down very well and we certainly don’t want to risk him because he has lots of important Manchester United games ahead. I would be devastated if we pushed him out there and something happened to increase the problem he has with his ankle.”

On Carrick, the England manager said, ” Michael trained fully in quite an intense training session on Wednesday but he had a re-occurrence of a feeling that he sometimes gets in his groin – a slight tightening of the groin – and we didn’t want to take any chances in what was a fairly light session before the match.”

Should both Schweinsteiger and Carrick be unavailable, another summer signing Morgan Schneiderlin could start in the centre of the pitch against Everton. The former Southampton man could partner Ander Herrera if the Spaniard is fit for Everton clash.
