Real Madrid secured a thumping 6-0 win against Espanyol, thanks to a phenomenal performance from Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Real Madrid legend scored five times as the Los Blancos continued their remarkable run of form against the Parakeets.
The five goals scored today, takes Cristiano to the top of Real Madrid’s scoring charts. The former Manchester United player is now the all time top scorer for Real Madrid (in La Liga).
Ronaldo, who failed to score in Madrid’s two opening games was unplayable all evening and destroyed the Espanyol defence with his movement, trickery and predatory instinct.
Ronaldo has now scored 229 goals for Real Madrid, in 203 games. The Portuguese superstar surpassed the likes of Raul and Di Stefano to become the all time top scorer at Madrid.
Karim Benzema scored the other goal in the 6-0 win. Welsh international Gareth Bale was heavily involved in most of the goals and put on an impressive showing, despite failing to score himself.
The win takes Real Madrid to the top of the table, with Atletico and Barcelona playing each other.
