Former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata scored a sensational goal in training and will have no doubt impressed the manager, who he fell out off favour with initially.
The Spaniard picked up a neat pass from Michael Carrick, before turning Phil Jones inside out and then smashed it past David De Gea.
Mata scored 9 goals last season and was one of United’s most influential players towards the end of the season. Initially not the first name on the team sheet, Mata made his way into Van Gaal’s plans as an inverted wide attacker and added a much needed goal threat.
His amazing brace at Anfield helped the Red Devils seal a crucial tie in the battle for the Champions League spot. New signings Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have also joined the squad in US and the fans will be eager to see their new boys in action soon.
