Manchester United winger Nani says he is unsure about his future but would love to continue with the Old Trafford club.
The Portuguese winger realizing that first team football under Louis van Gaal is not guaranteed decided join his old club Sporting in the summer on loan.
Loss of form and injuries restricted him appearances to 34 games in last two seasons, but now fully fit, Nani has produced nine goals in 25 appearances for Sporting, only bettered by Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney at Manchester United.
Nani reveals that he receives text from Ed Woodward and that United are following his progress closely.
“I receive some texts from Ed Woodward,” Nani says as quoted by The Guardian. “He texted me about the goal [on Sunday] and the great season I am having here.”
“I love Manchester United,” he adds. “The only decision I made was to play more and be me again, because I lost a lot of things there last season due to injuries and the change of manager. The new manager didn’t know me well and a lot of things changed. I needed to play regularly to be happy.”
Despite having a brilliant season, Nani is still unsure whether he will be playing for the Old Trafford giants next summer.
“You never know the future,” he says. “It depends on a lot of things. If United want me to stay then with a different mentality I think we can work well next season but there are a lot of things to discuss and see.”
Van Gaal (should he stays) will be looking to revamp the squad to his own taste and may omit Nani from his long term plans.
Do you think United should give Nani another chance to show his worth or is his career at Old Trafford is as good as over?
