Manchester United are reportedly lining up a big money move for Tottenham star Kyle Walker – but will struggle to get him.

The England right-back has fitted seamlessly back into the Spurs fold after 10 months out of action with a pelvis problem, with his reemergence coinciding with the side’s improvement.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, want a full-back with boss Louis van Gaal impressed by what he has seen of Walker since his return to action. The Dutch tactician has been tracking Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne after his impressive displays that have earned him his first England cap this season.

But according to the Mirror, Van Gaal has been so impressed by Walker he is considering making a move for the player at the end of the season, even though the 24-year-old has four years left on his White Hart Lane deal and would inevitably come at a premium if the club and player were open to the transfer.

Clyne would be a cheaper option with him inside the last year of his contract when the new season starts in August.

If United do come calling for Walker in the summer, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will demand top money for one of the club’s key players, which could well end up putting the Red Devils off and going for the less expensive Clyne.

In any event, Walker is happy at Spurs and has a genuine affinity with the club he has already been at for nearly six years.
