Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that his side need to win against Tottenham in order to keep themselves in the race for top four finish.
Both the sides are heading into this fixture on the back of a recent good form. Liverpool, since their humiliating 3-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford, are unbeaten in last eight Premier League games, winning five of them.
Spurs on the other hand have lost only once in their last five Premier League games, and their confidence will be sky high after defeating derby rivals Arsenal 2-1 last Saturday.
Liverpool team news
Rodgers has confirmed in the press conference that influential midfielder Lucas Leiva will be out for a while, but expects other key players to feature against Spurs.
In Lucas’ absence, Joe Allen could start alongside Gerrard and Henderson. Also, Rodgers might use Emre Can for that defensive midfield role, but in all probability he will not tinker with the team’s new found balance in defence.
Liverpool Predicted line up
The injury to Lucas probably won’t force Rodgers to change to a new system. The 3-4-2-1 system is perfect for his team, as it draws out the best from so many attacking players in the side.
Steven Gerrard will likely to continue despite his poor performance against Everton, while Adam Lallana could be benched for this one.
Daniel Sturridge has started the last three matches from the bench and it remains to be seen whether Rodgers take the risk and include him in the starting line up.
Prediction: As always, big matches are hard to predict, but Liverpool’s home advantage could give them an edge. 2-1 victory for the Reds.
