Carrick-RVP-Olympiakosanchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed star midfielder Michael Carrick will be out of action for four weeks with muscle rupture.

The 33-year-old has been instrumental since he returned from the injury he picked up during the pre-season. United went on a brilliant run since he made his first appearance from the substitute’s bench during their 1-0 away defeat to Manchester City.

Since then, United have lost only one match in all competitions and Carrick played a crucial role in helping the Red Devils go on an unbeaten streak. However, the England international will be on the sidelines and the 20-times English champions will miss his services in the center of the park.

On the brighter note, Van Gaal confirmed there are no new injuries and Ashley Young is closer to returning to full fitness.

“We don’t have many injuries. Ashley Young is coming back, but Michael Carrick has been injured now so he is out at the weekend. He can be important for the team but he is now injured,” Van Gaal told MUTV.

“I think it shall take more than four weeks, so it is not a minor injury but a muscle rupture, I think.”

“He is also the second captain but I have to say that’s part of the job of a manager, especially this season at Manchester United, because we have suffered a lot of injuries. But now we have seen [the light at] the end of the tunnel,” the Dutchman added.
