Loic Remy has only managed 27 minutes of Premier League football this season so far with Chelsea. Jose Mourinho prefers a 4-2-3-1 system mainly, where he uses Diego Costa as the first choice striker. The Spain international has been in terrific form this season scoring nine league goals already for the Blues.
Naturally, Remy is struggling to get regular games for the Blues. But, whenever he has been called upon, the striker didn’t disappoint. By scoring in his last two international matches for France, he has proved his quality again, despite getting limited chances at his club.
In France, many football pundit believes that he made a wrong choice by joining Chelsea in the summer. Remy probably should have signed for Liverpool this summer and was even close to joining the Reds, but medical problems prevented him from sealing the move.
Pierre Menes, a renowned blogger notes that Remy will be deprived of regular game time at Chelsea and therefore he has made a bad choice by joining the Blues.
Remy however understands that he was never going to be the first choice striker at Chelsea but the prospect of joining the London club was too tempting for him to refuse.
He said as quoted by Le 10 Sport: “When opportunities like that come up, it’s impossible to refuse. I didn’t hesitate for a second for several reasons: for my margin of development, my confidence, the level demanded of me… It’s one of the best clubs in the world, I’m happy to have signed for Chelsea.”
“I have goals. I didn’t sign to stay on the bench. I’ll try to progress as far as I can next to these great players. The rest will take care of itself naturally.”
Remy can do nothing here. He needs to patient and carry on doing his regular job and impress Mourinho in the training. He will have to wait for his opportunity and make sure he makes the best use of it.
