Louis van Gaal has confirmed Manchester United’s record signing Angel Di Maria is ready to make his debut for the Red Devils against Burnley on Saturday.
The Dutchman takes his men to Turf Moor as the 20-time English champions are in search of their first competitive win of the 2014-15 season. United lost two out of the three games and that includes an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to MK Dons in the second round of the Capital One Cup.
The Argentine international arrived at Old Trafford for a British record £59.7m on Tuesday. Van Gaal has admitted that Di Maria has impressed him and will make his United debut on Saturday.
“He has impressed me. The first training session was with all the boys and he was very impressive. The second was a little bit less so but he has to adapt to the culture and the players with whom he shall play,” Van Gaal told the club’s official website.
“It is the other way around also: the Man United players have to adapt to his way of playing. I believe he is ready to play. He is fit enough. He played a match in Madrid and he is ready to play.”
“A game is a game and a match is a match. He has a lot of hunger to play because he wants to support Manchester United. He said it in the press conference. He is a very modest guy. He wants to work for the team so I am very curious about his first appearance,” the Dutchman added.
