The agent of Ajax star Daley Blind has confirmed that Manchester United have not made contact for the services of the versatile player.
According to Talksport, the 24-year-old has been a transfer target for the Red Devils since they appointed Louis van Gaal as the successor to the sacked David Moyes. Blind was the part of the Netherlands national side during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where he played under United manager.
Despite strong rumours linking Blind to reunite with Van Gaal at Old Trafford, the player’s agent Rob Jansen has admitted there has been no approach from the 20-time English champions for the services of the Dutch international.
“At this moment Manchester United have not been in touch with me or Ajax about Daley and I’m not sitting here waiting for the call,” Jansen told Talksport.
Meanwhile, Blind has publicly admitted that it would be hard to turn down an offer from United.
“I am happy here in Amsterdam. But if there comes another club I will have to think about it and then we will see. I will think about my options. For now I will focus on Ajax and we will see what happens next week,” Blind said as reported by The Guardian.
Ajax manager Frank de Boer has urged Blind to continue with the Dutch champions for one more season. However, the Dutch boss is aware that a good offer for his skipper’s services would be hard to turn down.
“I am convinced he will make the right choice. If he goes to a big club then he has definitely deserved it. But I think it would be better if he stays one year. Last year was a good year for him but I think he can improve a lot with us,” De Boer said
“If a club comes along with a lot of money it is almost impossible to say no. But we won’t let him go for free that is for sure. It is important for the player and the club that there is no tension or that it happens at the last minute.”
