Everton reaped the benefits of signing few good players on loan last season. Smart loan signings like Gerard Deulofeu, Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Barry all played a key role last season.
While Lukaku and Barry were signed permanently this term, young Spaniard Deulofeu will likely to play for Barcelona this season.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez is looking to add a speedy and versatile winger to his team and is looking to sign Chelsea’s winger Christian Atsu on a season long loan.
“We are hoping that the deal can be formalised and finalised by Thursday,” Everton boss Roberto Martinez said as quoted by BBC.
“He can play on both wings, through the middle and has appreciation of space. Technically he is very gifted.”
Atsu joined Chelsea last season from Porto, but was quickly loaned to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for the 2013-14 term.
Chelsea have an avalanche of attacking midfielders on their ranks. Already they have the likes of Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Schurrle and Salah fighting for regular places in the first team; therefore loaning out Atsu seems the best possible solution for all parties involved here.
