Liverpool are all set to complete their ‘possible-final-signing’ of the summer, after reports from Spain suggest that Alberto Moreno is all set to make his move to Anfield after Sevilla’s Super Copa tie with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid will play Sevilla on Tuesday in the UEFA Super cup in Cardiff and according to Estadio Deportivo, the deal will be officially completed after the match.
Liverpool have been vying for his signature throughout the summer and though at one point of time, it seemed that the deal had hit a snag (mainly due to the fact that Liverpool were unwilling to meet the transfer fee demanded by the Andalusian club), but now it looks like the Reds are inching closer to landing their prime target.
Sevilla were in no hurry to sell the Spaniard as they stood firm on their €20m asking price, which the Reds were reluctant to pay. However, talks were re-opened during the time of completing a deal for Iago Aspas. The Spanish striker joined Sevilla on a season long loan, with the La Liga outfit holding the option of signing him permanently next season. Although the break down of the deal hasn’t been mentioned in the article, but Estadio Deportivo claims that the deal has been sealed.
The final agreement was sorted out last week after a successful meeting with Ian Ayre, the Liverpool chief executive. Moreno wants to play the Super Cup before bidding farewell to his old team-mates.
Moreno will become the seventh major signing of the Reds this summer, should the deal go through. His signing will not only solve the left-back crisis at Anfield but will add enough depth to the squad as well.
