Manchester United and Liverpool, the two biggest rivals in English football will face each other in the pre-season friendly at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium on Monday.
The clash will be the final of the International Champions Cup and Louis van Gaal would be looking for nothing less than a win against the Red Devils’ league rivals. Though it is a pre-season fixture, a match between United and Liverpool is of a very big importance for both clubs.
Soccerlens will take a look at how United will line-up for the match, despite the fixture being just a pre-season tie.
David de Gea will hold his position as United’s keeper. With Chris Smalling sitting out from the Red Devils’ 3-1 win over Real Madrid tie with a minor injury, Michael Keane is likely to retain his place on the right-side of the three-man defence.
Keane will be accompanied by Phil Jones and Jonny Evans in the back three. Van Gaal is without the services of Michael Carrick as the England international is out of action till September.
This will see summer signing Ander Herrera play alongside Darren Fletcher in the central midfield position. The Scottish international is likely to be United’s captain against Liverpool in the finals.
Antonio Valencia will be the right full-back. Ashley Young’s brilliant performance against the Champions League winners might earn him a place as the left full-back in the starting line-up, ahead of summer signing Luke Shaw.
Juan Mata will play in the no 10 position, while England international duo Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck will be the two strikers to lead the Old Trafford club’s attacking front on Monday.
Here is the Possible Manchester United line-up against Liverpool:
Prediction: Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool
