Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has signed a two-year deal with Major League Soccer side New York City FC.
The 36-year-old was released by the Premier League outfit after his contract expired on June 30. Lampard has now completed his switch to the US and has expressed his delight after joining his new team. The midfielder has vowed to prove the city and the fans of his new club proud.
“I am really excited about joining New York City FC and helping to play a real part in building something special in one of the sporting capitals of the world,” Lampard told New York City FC’s official website.
“The passion of the nation’s fans at the World Cup was second to none and I am looking forward to meeting New Yorkers and tapping into their love of the game.”
