The left-back was released from the West London club after his contract expired with the end of the last season. The former England international was not handed a new deal and was allowed to leave Stamford Bridge as a free agent, along with his compatriot and another Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
The Daily Mail reported that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wanted to make a last-ditch effort to bring Cole to Anfield. However, the Blues former player has snubbed a chance to sign for the Reds in joining Serie A outfit.
