A dominant performance from Chile ensured that Jorge Sampaoli’s men would knock out the defending Champions Spain out of the World Cup as the South Amercian outfit beat the La Roja by 2-0 at the Maracana.
Eduardo Vargas gave the Chileans a deserved lead just before the midway into the first half as the 24 year old scored from close range.
Sampaoli’s side were relentless with their pressing high up the pitch as the Chilean players hardly gave Vicente Del Bosque’s side a moment’s rest on the ball.
Chile doubled their lead when Charles Aranguiz scored from close range after a horrible give away from Iker Casillas from Alexis Sanchez’s well taken free kick just moments before the half time whistle.
Spain hardly made an impression right throughout the match as the Chileans executed their game plan to perfection.
