Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has identified Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin as a potential midfield target for next season and is ready to make that interest concrete with a €15m offer over the coming weeks.
The 27-year-old versatile Colombian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League clubs over the past six months or so, though he has attracted interest from other Italian clubs as well.
During the January transfer window, he was close to joining Serie A champions Juventus but ended up committing his long term future to Inter. Chelsea showed great interest in Guarin but have had their bids rejected during the January transfer window.
United are in the market for one or two quality midfielders, as Louis van Gaal takes an onerous task to rebuild the squad to his own taste.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports that Inter have received offers from both Manchester United and Juventus for Guarin and it is up to the player to decide, where he wants to join next season.
Inter are currently in the midst of a complete squad overhaul as well, which means several first team members including Guarin’s position is under threat.
Italian press speculates that Juventus could be Guarin’s next possible destination. The Old Lady have the advantage over Man Utd, as they can provide him the Champions League platform he craves for.
