According to The Daily Mirror, Willian of Anzhi Makhachkala is once again on the Tottenham transfer radar, which begs the question: Do we really need another attacking midfielder?
Anzhi are currently under an extreme measures cleansing, with the manager placing all first team members on the transfer list in an effort to cut their wage bill considerably. Ignoring the satisfying feeling when a ‘mega rich’ club effectively bites off more than they can chew, it is clear to see with the right negotiations Tottenham could be in for a bargain acquisition; but not in the form of Willian.
Lacina Traoré, the 6ft 8inches Ivory Coast international is a 23 year old striking power-house built to play in the Premier League and perhaps even a make-shift bomb shelter which could come in useful if you are to accept the rumours of a terrorist threat directed firmly Tottenham’s way. Traoré is valued at £14 million and scoring 18 goals last season it could be the perfect time for Mr.Levy to take full advantage of the clubs current unrest.
Defoe has been a fantastic striker for Tottenham over the years, but with age comes the growing concern of injury proneness that appears to be well and truly part of his terms and conditions over a season. Not to mention the truly exasperating inconsistencies of Adebayor, deciding to score one world beating goal every few months further stoking the fires of frustration among the Spurs faithful.
Stability is needed desperately, and with the acquisition of Soldado I firmly believe we are on the right track. So let’s stop with these exhausting connections to various midfielders, and perhaps gain the services of a young promising talent that could truly make for a formidable Spurs attack, not to mention the potential sell-on value Mr.Levy could be in for which let’s face it, should seal the deal.
