According to recent reports in the media, Aaron Ramsey is a target for Barcelona. The Welshman has been one of the best midfielders in the league since last season and has been linked with moves to Manchester City as well.
However, it is quite clear that Arsenal will never repeat their mistakes and sell to rivals, especially now that their financial and footballing position has improved considerably.
With the addition of Ozil and Sanchez, Arsenal are a much more attractive proposition in world football and are now eyeing trophies for themselves.
However, following the announcement that Xavi will depart this summer, a rather bizarre report originated that the Catalans are eyeing up a move for Aaron Ramsey.
According to his International team manager Chris Coleman, Ramsey is a quality midfielder and is good enough for Barcelona.
“If you look at the way he plays, and the way Barcelona play with all that imagination, it is not too dissimilar to the way Arsenal play,” Coleman said of Ramsey.
“Barca signed [Ivan] Rakitic from Sevilla last year. Some people were scoffing at that, but he’s a good player, and if Barca are looking at ‘Rambo’ then it’s for a reason.
“He’s already playing for Arsenal, who play a similar style. He’s playing at the top of the Premier League and Champions League every season, so ability-wise when you see the best of Aaron Ramsey… at his best is he good enough for Barcelona? Yes he is, at his best.”
The Arsenal midfielder is a complete player who scores as well as creates goals. Further, his superb footballing intelligence means he is just as good at keeping the play ticking with short passing. Ramsey is also blessed with an incredible engine and therefore his defensive contribution is unparalleled in the Arsenal side.
In terms of quality, Barcelona looking at Aaron Ramsey is not ridiculous, but if i were a betting man, i would lump every penny on Ramsey not joining Barcelona. Simply because the transfer makes no sense at all, not from a financial point of view (Arsenal will demand ridiculous money).
Further, Ramsey loves the club he plays for and will continue there. The player has never wanted to move abroad. It would be quite naive to leave a Champions League club like Arsenal, where he is a star, for a club that will eventually replace him with a better player (Pogba linked with a 2016 move).
