Premier League newcomers Watford have confirmed the signing of Danny Rose, following his recent release from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 30-year-old joins the Hornets on a two-year deal and will officially be integrated into their first team from next month.

Rose is familiar with Watford as he previously spent time on loan with them as a teenager in 2009.

With more than 15-years of professional experience under his belt, there is no doubt that Rose will add value to the Hornets squad as they aim to avoid relegation from the Premier League next season.

A product of the Leeds United development system, Rose is best remembered for his time at Tottenham, where he made 156 Premier League appearances between 2007-2021.

Once regarded as the best left-back in the Premier League, Rose’s career has undergone a downward spiral in recent years.

He did not play a single league game last term as he was deemed surplus to requirements by Spurs.

He last appeared in the top-flight in the 2019/20 season when he was on the books of Newcastle United on loan.

Rose will now get a chance to rebuild his career at Vicarage Road. He will also provide the Hornets with vital leadership and experience.

Meanwhile, one player whom the Toffees are linked to is former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.

The former England international is contracted to Roma until the summer of 2023.

However, new Roma boss Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing in a new central defender and may be open to selling Smalling for the right price.
