The news doesn’t come as a big surprise.
Sissoko has a contract at Spurs till 2023, and it is the perfect time for the north Londoners to cash in on him.
The Frenchman will turn 32 in August, and there’s no point in keeping him beyond the summer when the club is set to undergo a massive rebuilding process.
Fabio Paratici is set to be announced as the new Tottenham director of football next week, and it is expected that a host of players will either be linked with a move in or out with Italian clubs.
Sissoko has made over 200 appearances for the north London club, but he is far from being a popular figure. Normally, when someone stays at the club for a long time, he becomes a cult figure, but that can’t be said about Sissoko.
He is currently with the French national team at the European Championships and a strong performance there will help Spurs to command a decent transfer fee for him.
