Chelsea

Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in their last league encounter, the Blues’ fourth successive league win.

In their last five, Chelsea have won four and drawn one, earning themselves thirteen points from the available fifteen. The Blues currently sit 2nd in the league, four points behind leaders Manchester United and equal on points with 3rd placed Liverpool.

Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns, but will still be without Deco, Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira on long-term injuries.

Prediction

Chelsea drew 1-1 with Tottenham earlier this season at Stamford Bridge, and last season’s Tottenham vs Chelsea fixture saw the two sides draw 4-4.

Both sides are in impressive form, with each unbeaten in their last five league matches. On Chelsea’s side, this is owing to the combined efforts of Michael Essien, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Nicholas Anelka, who have all scored a goal in Chelsea’s last four matches.

For the Spurs, Aaron Lennon has been in stellar form, scoring three goals in Tottenham’s last four matches and Robbie Keane has impressed, scoring twice in the last three games.

With both sides in impressive form, it will undoubtedly be an exciting contest in this London derby. However with Chelsea currently holding the league’s best away record – having only lost twice on the road all season – the Blues will go into this match as favourites for victory, and the Spurs will have to find something special in order to take any points away from this encounter.
