Tottenham Hotspur have lodged a €40 million (£35m) bid for Fiorentina hitman Dusan Vlahovic according to La Gazzeta dello Sport (print edition, July 15, page 15).
The problem for Spurs is that the Italians are looking for closer to €60m (£51m).
It must be said that this deal would only make sense if Harry Kane is sold this summer.
If the 27-year-old stays in north London, there is no way that Tottenham will be shelling out north of £50m on a new striker this summer.
That isn’t to say that Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo shouldn’t be trying to bring Vlahovic to the club.
Tottenham pushing for Dusan Vlahovic?
Spurs are in the hunt for the talented Serbia international, according to GDS.
The 6ft 3in striker is a real talent. If Tottenham sell Kane this summer, there are not many better options to replace him than Vlahovic.
The Fiorentina ace is strong in the air and is as powerful as they come. His domineering stature defies his tender years.
Vlahovic scored 21 goals in 37 Serie A games for Fiorentina last season. He really does seem to be like a superstar in the making.
The Serb recently received huge praise from Italian football legend Christian Vieiri, as quoted by his Bobo TV Twitch channel:
“I think that, after Haaland and Mbappe, he is one of the strongest in Europe. He has quality, technique. He is Serbian and they are all technically good. They are called the Brazilians of the east.”
£51 million for Vlahovic would actually be an astute long-term investment for Tottenham.
However, Kane’s future will have a huge bearing on Spurs’ potential move to sign the Fiorentina ace.
