AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has branded last night’s derby loss to rivals Inter Milan a false result, and vowed to show the unity he and his team-mates showed in their narrow 1-0 loss at San Siro.
A second half strike from Fredy Guarin was enough to settle things as Balotelli’s late cameo wasn’t enough for the Rossoneri to even salvage a draw.
And Balotelli took to Instagram today to express his feelings about the result, which he says lies and offered words of camaraderie in the light of last night’s events.
He posted: “The scoreline lies! I’m proud of my team no matter what. Always united in battle, win or lose.
“We remain together! Always and only in this city, but more than anything, Forza Milan always!”
The 25-year-old came on on the hour mark to replace ineffective striker Carlos Bacca and was a breath of fresh air as he added impetus to Milan’s attacks in search for an equalizer, which ultimately proved elusive.
It was his first competitive appearance in the Milan shirt since joining on loan from Liverpool during the summer, as he was booed and whistled by the Inter fans during his short but eventful stay on the pitch.
