Joe Allen will enter the final year of his contract at the end of June, and Swansea are looking to bring back their former player in the summer on a cut-price deal.

Swansea are reportedly interested in re-signing their former midfielder Joe Allen in the summer. The Swans considered the options of signing the Welshman on loan during the January transfer window, and now have made him one of their priority targets this summer.

Allen joined Liverpool with a lot of potential but in his four year spell at the club he hasn’t been able to reach the dizzy heights that everyone expected of him to achieve. Initially thought he would become a key player under previous Liverpool ,manager Brendan Rodgers, but soon after he found himself as a squad player at the club, failing to build on the good early promise he showed upon joining.

He struggled for regular games under Jurgen Klopp, but has won back the faith of the German after producing a series of strong performances for the Reds in recent months. The absence of Emre Can and Jordan Henderson through injury have opened up an opportunity for Allen to make a significant impression, and so far he been very impressive with his performances.

Swansea hierarchy are thought be “huge admirers” of Allen, having seen the 26-year-old develop through the youth ranks and then into the first team.

The Welsh club are reportedly concerned with Allen’s valuation, as Liverpool understood to want in the north of £10m for the Welshman. The Reds will certainly want a good value for money for the player they signed him for £15m from Swansea back in 2012.

A lot will depend on how Liverpool carry out their business in the summer. If Klopp wants to bolster his midfield with one or two quality additions, chances are high that Allen could be left out. In such a scenario, Liverpool would listen to offers for the Welshman and sell him to the highest bidder.

Swansea meanwhile are looking to appoint Rodgers as their new manager in the summer, and therefore a potential reunion with Allen could be on the cards.
