Live Stream Saturday’s Horse Racing – A Summary of What’s On

There is the treat of three Group 1 races this Saturday, and the big one in Britain is the St Leger at Doncaster (3:35) over an extended 1m 6f. Hurricane Lane is a hot favourite for his hat-trick at the highest level. Challengers include Glorious Goodwood winner Ottoman Emperor and Epsom Derby runner-up Mojo Star.

Supporting the world’s oldest Classic on Town Moor is the Group 2 Champagne Stakes (2:20) for juveniles over 7f. This features a clash between two top colts in royal runner Reach For The Moon and Al Shaqab Racing’s Lusail.

There is also the Group 3 Park Stakes (3:00) that uses the same course and distance. Shadwell Estates run both Laneqesh and Danyah, while Godolphin and Sheikh Mohammed’s own silks also feature in D’Bai and Glorious Journey for Charlie Appleby.

Irish Champions Weekend Starts in Style

In Ireland, meanwhile, the opening day of Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown has group races galore. After a couple of juvenile contests get the two-day meeting off to a flyer, the Matron Stakes (1:40) over a mile for fillies and mares sees Classic heroine Mother Earth battle last year’s winner Champers Elysees as well as other three-year-olds and older types.

The Group 2 Boomerang Mile (2:10) also sees different generations collide, while the Group 3 Paddy Power Stakes (3:15) features Irish Derby fourth Earlswood, Innisfree on the comeback trail and Sir Lamorak, who has switched stables and joined Joseph O’Brien.

As if you need any more incentive to watch Saturday’s live horse racing streaming after all that, the 1m 2f Irish Champion Stakes (2:45) looks an absolute cracker. Among the small but select field of four is Dermot Weld’s globetrotting mare Tarnawa tuning up for a crack at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Opposition includes French Derby and Coral-Eclipse hero St Mark’s Basilica but also 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace winner Poetic Flare in an epic encounter.
