French defender Mamadou Sakho has won the hearts of Liverpool fans quickly, with his performances and also his feelings for the club.
The 24-year-old defender, who joined from PSG last summer, in an interview with RMC said, playing for Liverpool is like playing for a country. The defender has been overwhelmed with the atmosphere at Anfield and says the fans are like an extended family.
He said to RMC: “The atmosphere is fantastic. This really is the image of the club.Liverpool is not a small family with the players and the staff. It’s really a very, very large family with all the fans.”
“Liverpool is a country. The country of football. The public is so present and when we know the story is truly amazing.”
Liverpool suffered a blow in the title race, when they lost 2-0 at the hands of Chelsea at Anfield that pulled Manchester City back into the driver seat again.
When Sakho was asked about Liverpool’s chances of winning from here, the Frenchman said it was “tough” to take but vows to fight till the very end.
