A:3K was bringing a one of a kind event for the football fans involving Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, David Villa, Cesc Fabregas and of course England’s own Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney. But recently, A:3K announced that Rooney and Gerrard have pulled out of the event after their failure to perform in South Africa.
The event is postponed till next year, i.e. the June 2011. Director of A:3K, Terry Byrne, said:
“Both Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney have made it clear they believe it would be inappropriate for them to participate in A:3K at this time. We fully understand and respect both players’ decisions. We could have replaced them with two other players but feel the players involved are six of the best in the world – and that is what we promised we would deliver.”
And the president of Internation for AEG Live, Rob Harlett, who was also promoting the event said:
“As a football fan I totally understand and respect Steven and Wayne’s decision to postpone their involvement in A:3K until next year. We look forward to hosting the event at the O2 Arena on the rescheduled date in June 2011.”
As a football fan I DO NOT understand Steven and Wayne’s decision to postpone their involvement in A:3K! It’s clear that they want to avoid their fans. Either they don’t have the guts to face their fans or they are just scared of them. We all saw Rooney’s reaction after the game against Algeria.
A:3K was supposed to present the A:3K Football Champion on July 17th, 2010 from the O2 Arena. This event if now postponed until the summer 2011. Ticket holders have the option to either get a refund or hold on to their ticket for next year’s event.
