Manchester United striker Robin van Persie hasn’t had a great start to the new campaign. The 31-year-old, who was so prolific in his debut season for Manchester United helping United win their 20th league title, hasn’t quite found that form in the past two seasons, with injury playing part as well.
He hinted of returning back to form after scoring late equaliser against Chelsea, but was criticised heavily for his lacklustre performance against Manchester City.
There were even rumours that Fenerbahce had made contacts with his agent, but the Turkish club were told to keep patience, as the striker currently not looking for a move.
Despite his recent dip in form, he is still one of the key players for Manchester United and certainly Louis van Gaal wants him to stay. According to reports from Dutch media outlet Soccer News, Manchester United are set to offer a new two-year-bumper contract to Van Persie that will keep him at the club till 2018.
Van Persie reportedly earns around £250k-a-week, but it is still unknown whether there will be an increment in salary or a drop in his payment.
