Former Tottenham hero Robbie Keane believes that Mauricio Pochettino must continue to use Erik Lamela in midfield.

The 26-year-old Lamela continued his good form this weekend as he found the back of the net during Spurs 3-2 victory against Wolves on Saturday.

The Argentine has now so far scored four goals from the several Premier League appearances that he has made this season.

Prior to the season, some were calling for Lamela to be sold but the former Roma man has made the most of the opportunities that have been given to him following Dele Alli’s injury.

He is arguably delivering his best performances for Spurs at the moment since his 2013 arrival from Roma.

He will now cause a healthy selection headache for Pochettino once Alli returns.

Alli did not get any action during the game against Wolves as he continues to fight to return to full fitness.

Keane believes that Pochettino must continue to select Lamela in midfield.

Speaking after the Wolves game, the 38-year-old said to Sky Sports: “He was fantastic today,”

“In the last few weeks he’s been one of the outstanding players. I think it continued from last season. He’s been brilliant.

“He’s very clever and he always gets in those little pockets. The goal was a prime example of that. You’re not really sure where he plays. He’s certainly stepped up to the plate. You probably won’t see Dele Alli starting for four or five games.”
