According to reports in Portuguese Media Outlet O Jogo, Porto President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa has claimed that Jackson Martinez could leave in the summer transfer window. The Colombian striker will join any club that is ready to meet Porto’s evaluation of the player.

We had earlier reported that any potential suitor will have to pay €35m (Martinez’s transfer release clause) to acquire his signature on the dotted lines.

There were earlier reports in the first week of February that Manchester United had sent a scout to watch the striker in action while Arsenal have been keeping tabs on his situation since the summer.

Despite the interest from Premier League clubs, the player could move to Italy in the Serie A instead, as claimed by his agent. Martinez’s agent Henry Pompey was quoted saying, “We know that it won’t be easy, but his desire is clear he wants to play in Serie A. He would be honoured to have this opportunity. He loves the Italian league and if he were to leave Porto, Serie A would be his first choice.”

It is believed that Napoli are very much interested in the player while AC Milan and Roma are also keeping tabs on the player’s situation. Martinez has been in stunning form once again this season having scored 21 times in 27 appearances this term for the Portuguese club.

Jamie Sanderson in his column for the Metro writes that Arsenal are ready to move for the player by paying £29.5m which should be enough to do business for the North London club.
