Liverpool star Alberto Moreno’s agent has revealed the defender has been targeted by Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old joined the Merseyside club from Sevilla last summer and after having a mixed start to his Anfield career, he was the second choice left-back at the start of the season. Under the former manager, Brendan Rodgers, the Spaniard lost his place in the starting XI to summer signing Joe Gomez.
A dip in form forced the Northern Irishman to bring Moreno back into the starting lineup, something he has retained since Jurgen Klopp replaced Rodgers as Gomez is set for a lebgthy spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury.
Spanish publication Marca reported in late November that La Liga giants have identified the Reds defender as a target in January. Moreno’s agent Javier Moya has suggested it would be joy for his client, if Real make an offer for his services.
“It’s logical that they ask about such an important player. They are asking about him. Important teams from Spain and other places are asking,” Moya told Radio 4G.
“If a team like Real Madrid speak with us and Liverpool are satisfied with the operation, they could talk. If a team with the substance of Real Madrid makes an offer, it would be a joy for him.”
“It’s difficult. Everyone knows the importance of Real Madrid but Liverpool have five European Cups. You have to give the first step to Liverpool.”
Meanwhile, Moreno has rushed to quickly suggest that he is not aware of any potential interest from Rafael Benitez’s side and revealed that he has also not heard from his agent regarding any information with Real looking at the possibility of signing him.
“I have never had anything serious with them – not me, not my brothers or representatives. I have not found out about that [Real Madrid interest], I do not know whether that is true,” Moreno told the Liverpool Echo.
