Brendan Rodgers was confirmed as the Leicester City manager last night.
The former Celtic boss will be expected to around Leicester’s current run of form and finish the season strongly.
Popular pundit Ray Parlour believes that Rodgers will be a hit at the King Power Stadium. Parlour has tipped the former Liverpool boss to guide Leicester into the top six.
“I think Leicester’s a really good job to take,” Parlour told talkSPORT. (via HITC) “I think the owner will always back you. A little bit more financial backing from the owner.
“I think Leicester could be one of those sides that maybe get into that top six. We go back to when they won the league. But I think they can be the ones who can challenge for that top six. I think Brendan will look at the opportunity and say ‘Yeah, I really fancy this’.”
It would be some achievement for Rodgers if he manages to do that.
Leicester are significantly weaker than the current top six and they would have to punch above their weight in order to break into the top six. Having said that, they did manage to surprise everyone and win the title a few years ago.
The Foxes have a very talented young squad at their disposal and they could be really good with a couple of intelligent additions.
The likes of Gray, Maddison, Vardy, Tielemans, Ndidi, Chilwell, Maguire, Benkovic, Schmeichel and Pereira are all capable of playing for a top six side.
Rodgers is likely to be backed in the summer window and it will be interesting to see if he can make a few key additions to his side and lead a top six charge next season.
