Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling is set to be dropped when the Reds welcome Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield tonight.
The England international picked up a knock against Everton in the Merseyside Derby last weekend and is expected to be back against Southampton.
Sterling missing out will be a huge blow for the Reds, who are already dealing with the loss of Brazilian Lucas Leiva, who is set to be sidelined for six weeks. The duo have played a key role in Liverpool’s recent run of form and are crucial to Liverpool’s fight for a Champions League place.
Earlier in his press conference yesterday, Brendan Rodgers confirmed that Sterling is available for tonight’s game. However, recent speculations of his contract situation state that the former QPR starlet has been dropped due to his refusal to sign an extension.
Meanwhile, BBC journalist Ben Smith confirmed that the England international will be missing the game due to a knock and should be back in the side soon.
I am told Raheem Sterling is out of #LFC‘s game with Spurs tonight with a knock.

Sterling has been in inspired form for the Reds and has been carrying the side’s sole attacking threat for most part of the season.
