French ‘nouveau riche’ club Paris Saint Germain have reportedly joined the race to sign Dnipro winger, Yevhen Konoplyanka, in the summer.
The 24-year-old Ukrainian attacker was one of Liverpool’s primary January targets. The Reds were very close to signing him on the transfer deadline day and a medical was said to have been completed privately, but the deal ultimately failed to materialise.
It is understood that Liverpool will go for him again in the summer but could face tough competition from PSG, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Ligue 1 giants have now entered the race to sign Konoplyanka.
Despite a brief loss in form, Konoplyanka has had a relatively good season, where he has found the net eight time, with most of his goals coming in the Europa League.
Reports suggest that PSG have held preliminary talks with intermediaries in Qatar on Monday, over the possibility of their client moving to Parc des Princes.
Liverpool are expected to secure a Champions League berth this season and should they achieve it, the Reds will be in a better position to lure the highly talented winger in summer.
