Portsmouth were able to keep it scoreless early but Chelsea eventually pull away in the second half.
It was scoreless for about 30 minutes until Chelsea took the lead with a 32nd minute goal. It would remain 1-0 into halftime but Chelsea would break open the match in the second half.
Florent Malouda scored two goals within ten minutes (50th and 60th minute) and Drogba scored his second (77th minute) to give Chelsea a commanding 4-0 lead. Chelsea would add one more in stoppage time as Lampard headed it into the back of the net from right in front of the goalkeeper.
Portsmouth did not have the quality to stay with Chelsea and its clear to see why they are last in the Premier League table. The win puts Chelsea back in good position to challenge for the title with about 6 weeks left in the season.
