Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed they have signed defender Kieran Trippier from Burnley on Friday.
The right-back has signed a five-year deal with the north London club after leaving Turf Moor.
A statement on Tottenham’s official website read, “We are delighted to announce that we have completed the transfer of Kieran Trippier from Burnley.”
“The 24-year-old defender, who started every Premier League game for the Clarets last season, has agreed a five-year contract with the Club.”
He came up through the ranks of Manchester City’s youth academy, before breaking into their first team in 2008. He could not make an impact and sent time on loan at Barnsley and Burnley, before joining the Clarets in 2012.
Trippier started in all the Premier League games during the 2014-15 season and was substituted on two occasions. He was one of the few brightest prospects at Burnley after they failed to avoid relegation from the Premier League last campaign.
The latest acquisition of the English player will see him challenge Kyle Walker for the right-back position for the next season.
The full-back’s transfer sees Burnley lose second talented player leave the club after Danny Ings agreed to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window. Trippier is the North London club’s second summer signing after they signed defender Kevin Wimmer from Cologne.
