According to reports in the Telegraph, Chelsea are planning for life without Petr Cech as the Blues have weighed up shock names in Brad Friedel and Robert Green for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report states that the Blues will try to convince the Czech to stay at the club but they are fully aware that the 32 year old could head towards the exit in search of regular first team football. Cech started in the League Cup final against Tottenham as he collected his 12th medal in his illustrious career for the London side.

It is believed that Arsenal and Liverpool are monitoring Cech’s situation but it can be safely said that the Blues won’t be selling the veteran player to one of their domestic rivals. European heavyweights Paris St Germain, Roma and nouveau riche Monaco are also interested in Cech’s services.

With 22-year-old Thibaut Courtois set as Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper for the coming years, the club are compiling a list of experienced deputies. The list has Tottenham legend Brad Friedel, Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green, Celtic’s Craig Gordon, Aston Villa’s Shay Given and Norwich City’s John Ruddy.

It is believed that manager Jose Mourinho wants a goalkeeper with plenty of Premier League experience who can do the job when called into action. Scottish media outlet Scotsman however reveal that Craig Gordon will not be with a deputy role at Stamford Bridge given his struggle to return to top-level football.

Gordon earlier spells at Hearts and Sunderland and also represented his country before injury problems kept him out for two years. Celtic then signed him on a three-year deal in July 2014.
