Petr Cech believes that Chelsea are still on course to win major honours this season, rather than fall into a downward spiral as their recent form may suggest.
Carlo Ancelotti’s charges have registered only one victory in their last six outings in all competitions, and have looked particularly vulnerable in dead-ball situations.
However, Cech believes that a blip in form is no cause for concern, as the Blues are well on course to bring home some silverware.
“We are craving for Premier League crown this season and I hope we will manage that,” he said, according to the Press Association.
“At the same time, I believe that we will do well on the Champions League scene.
“Our team has the potential to win the most prestigious European club trophy finally.”
The Czech Republic shot-stopper added: “It is probably because with coach Ancelotti we have picked up on the successful spring period under coach [Guus] Hiddink, during which we were playing catch-up in the Premier League, won the FA Cup and were doing well also in the UEFA Champions League from which we were eliminated after the much-discussed semi-final against Barcelona.
“Now we are leading the Premier League and are in a good position in the Champions League.”
