Parma v AC Milan v Napoli
Italian Serie A
Stadio Ennio Tardini – Parma, Italy
24 March 2010 – 19:45 GMT
AC Milan travel to face Parma in a midweek Serie A match trailing rivals Inter Milan by one point in the race for the Scudetto.
Parma v AC Milan Preview
AC Milan had a chance to go top of the table wit Inter Milan’s loss but could only manage a draw against Napoli on Sunday. Parma’s last match as a 1-1 draw at Bari which has them in 12th place in the Serie A table.
Milan will once again be without leading goalscorer Pato who re-injured his hamstring during Sunday’s match. With Pato unavailable, Filippo Inzaghi will likely be called on to provide scoring. He scored the Milan’s lone goal in the draw with Napoli.
Parma are several points above relegation but too far back to contend for a spot in Europe. They are unbeaten in their last four matches and conceded only two goals in those matches. Parma’s defensive form at home as been very strong, with 10 goals conceded in 14 matches.
This is an important match for AC Milan if they want to challenge for the Scudetto. A win would keep them at least one point within leaders Inter Milan but could put them on top. Inter Milan have been inconsistent in recent weeks and AC Milan needs to take advantage by getting results.
If they lose the match and Inter Milan win, the gap will move back to four points. While Inter Milan will have a busy scheduled with the Champions League, AC Milan will have to find someone to step up and replace the scoring void left by Pato.
Parma has been strong at home an AC Milan have not been convincing this season. It should be a low scoring draw.
