Serie A side Napoli have reportedly lowered their asking price for midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who could be heading through the exit door when the transfer window reopens.
The 24-year-old joined the Italian outfit from Real Betis during the summer of 2018 and he has since made 72 appearances for the club while contributing 10 goals and five assists.
His progress has already attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid and Corriere dello Sport (h/t The Mail) claims that Manchester City have joined the race to sign him.
The same publication adds that Napoli have reduced their £70m valuation for the midfielder and they are now prepared to accept a fee of around £52m to sanction his sale.
Earlier this week, Ruiz’s agent Alvaro Torres revealed that there is plenty of interest in his client’s services and Napoli are aware of the enquiry made by Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have yet to make a formal bid for the Spain international but they have definitely received a boost to their chances of signing the player ahead of next season.
Ruiz has primarily played in the centre of the park for Napoli but he is also effective in the holding midfield role or in an advanced attacking position.
As such, his versatility would make him a suitable signing for any of his admirers and it will be interesting to see as to which club makes the first bid to land his services.
