Milan Confirm To Sign Defender In January…..Is It William Gallas?

Italian and European powerhouse AC Milan have admitted that they are looking forward to signing a defender in January to compensate for the injuries they have sustained in their defensive department this season.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has been quoted by the Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport as saying:

“It would be difficult to live with our attackers for him (Messi). Our attention is focused on the central defenders. The first purchase will be a great defender who, however, will never be as great as our captain (Paolo Maldini) who will quit in June.”

It is speculated that this “great defender” is no other than Arsenal’s fall-out boy William Gallas. The French defender has fallen out with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger after making controversial comments about his teammates.

Gallas was stripped off his captaincy and was even dropped. But he has since been reinstated in the first team and Wenger himself has said that he still thinks Gallas is a very vital part of his team.

But William Gallas is said to be unhappy at the way Arsenal have treated him over that incident and is eager to move out of the Emirates. A number of clubs have been linked with the situation, including struggling Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, but it is being said that should Gallas indeed move, then he shall do so to Italian powerhouse AC Milan.

Former Arsenal players Matthieu Flamini and Phillipe Senderos are playing for Milan and maybe Gallas would be tempted to join them.
